Rev. Vicky's Message September 12, 2024

This was supposed to be Rev. Michelle’s Sunday, however, she has contracted pneumonia again – so I am pinch-hitting for her. Let’s all pause in this moment and affirm:

Going within and touching the peace and presence of God in prayer and contemplation, we give our concerns over to God and find ease.  We trust in the healing power of God’s love and light moving through Michelle now and throughout her return to wholeness and wellness.

Thank You God!

So, this week, I am also deep into COPA, reading 5 articles in preparation for attending (as a COPA representative) the West/Southwest IAF Organizing Institute Regional Leaders meeting on Thursday and Friday (in Denver, CO), and our COPA Regional Strategy Team meeting on Saturday. (In fact I am writing this message at the San Jose Airport, waiting for my plane.)

I had already been moved and inspired by the articles I’m reading for these events, and was reflecting on doing a lesson in all the ways our work in COPA supports our spiritual journey – especially given last week’s lesson on Walking the Talk – where I quoted Sheldon Wolin, saying: We have forfeited what is unique and irreplaceable, our birthright of politicalness – which means “our capacity for developing into beings who know and value what it means to participate in and be responsible for the care and improvement of our common and collective life” in exchange for our pursuit of the material realm of life, what we often call the world of appearances.

So this development seems to be an affirmation of my reflections, and evidently the right time to share the spiritual insights we can gain through our work with COPA.

We’re being called to line up now (yes, I’m on Southwest Airlines), so I will close and get this sent to Kay so she can send it out to all of you. See you Sunday…

Namasté,

Rev. Vicky
