Rev. Michelle's Message September 3, 2026

In my lesson this past Sunday, I talked about how we all have different understandings of God and different ways of relating to the divine. Therefore, it follows logically that we will also have different ways of praying.

For many years now, I have been very interested in the myriad kinds of prayer and meditation that exist and have experimented with a wide variety of them. I have also presented many of them to you in Sunday lessons because what I want is for you to have a “toolbox” full of potential prayer practices. Each day when you set aside time for prayer and meditation, you can pull a “tool” out of your box that most resonates for you on that day. I figure that the more tools you have at your disposal, the more likely you are to find one that works for you on any given day.

I go through different phases with my prayer practice and follow various teachers on my meditation app (Insight Timer). Lately, I have found that I have been sticking with the same teacher for many months because I just really love her particular style, her soothing voice, and the way she combines a number of different elements into one simple and easy prayer/meditation practice.

This Sunday I am going to present you with my own adapted version of this prayer practice, and will have a handout containing detailed instructions so that you can practice on your own at home. My hope is simply to lower the barrier to entry for prayer and meditation, making your prayer time easier, more effective, more accessible, and more fulfilling.

Prayerful Blessings,

Rev. Michelle
