This Sunday is Easter Sunday, the day we celebrate the Christ’s triumph over earthly death and the eternal nature of Life and Love. And it is also my 52nd birthday! This is (obviously) not the first time my birthday has fallen on Easter Sunday. It occurs every few years or so, and I am used to celebrating Easter and my birthday together.
A few days ago someone asked me what I was doing for my birthday. I said, “Preaching an Easter Sunday sermon!” The person was surprised I didn’t want to take my birthday off. The truth is, there is no place I would rather be on my special day than with all of you, in my happy place (the pulpit), doing what I love to do. There is no better way for me to spend my birthday than speaking a message of hope and eternal life and celebrating God’s unfailing love for humanity and for all of creation.
And to top it off, no rain is predicted!
I so look forward to spending this coming Easter Sunday with you at our sweet little church on the hill, sharing a joyous celebration of Life, with lively music, communion, beautiful flowers, and an Easter egg hunt, as we recommit ourselves to our belief in the goodness of God and in our own ability to overcome all obstacles and rise up and live.
Many Blessings,
Rev. Michelle
